One more study on the health of the intestinal tract was done on the connection between the brain/stress and intestinal tract. The study showed that one part of the brain is very much connected with the neurons that lead to the intestinal tract and an emotional upset or shock triggers the over stimulation or under stimulation of the gastric nervous system, therefore causing the irritable bowel symptoms. On another follow up study people who had diagnosed IBS did much better with the combination of anxiolytic medication and reflux medication as well as probiotics than the ones that were used separately. In my clinic I have seen Continue reading “Brain and gut axis and connection with IBS symptoms”

Probiotics and health of the intestinal tract in babies
Probiotics infantis, support for prevention and health of intestinal tract in babies and adults
I have a puppy and as any puppy or babies he got sick with gastroenteritis and boy I never seen something go down so quickly. Luckly he got a drip straight away and was taken care very quickly. Very upsetting to see him get ill and not be able to do anything. Same with babies and people who we love. But with new babies it is even scarier and you want to do the best you can as soon as you can. Well as I saw a research about canine probiotics I asked the vet if they give probiotics to the dogs. And well the vet answered “yes of course they work so well?” Well, there you are, so why the doctors in England suggest that for babies and children who gets gastroenteritis or as preventative? I came across more research about that and here Continue reading “Probiotics and health of the intestinal tract in babies”
Home made rice milk and nutritional value of it
Nutritional value of brown and red rice
Both of them full of B vitamins, calcium, zinc and iron, manganese, selenium, magnesium and other nutrients. The red rice is full of anti-oxidant anthocyanin.
Wild rice contains more benefit then the brown and red as it is higher in the antioxidant anthocyanins and low in the glycaemic index (slow sugar release), all three rice contain fibres if eating cooked.
Anthocyanin
Anthocyanins are water-soluble vacuolar pigments that may appear red, purple, or blue depending on the pH.
Anti-oxidant important for the health of the heart and heart vessels, anti-inflammatory and free radical scavangers, strengthen the capillaries
Also the above rice contain bio-active components, such as ferulic acid, γ-oryzanol, and gamma aminobutyric acid, which are important for repairing the intestinal tract
To make the rice use a hand blender, boil some water, for every 50 g of rice have about 250 ml of hot water or less if you would like to be creamy. Put a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of olive oil, some sugar substitute such as stevia or banana or any other fruits to sweetened. Blend everything Continue reading “Home made rice milk and nutritional value of it”
Importance of Iodine in pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as adults and children
Importance of consuming iodine rich foods during pregnancy and post-partum, as well as adults
•
• I came across a study about iodine status in pregnancy and post-natal, breastfeed or not. I am always amazed when there are lots of research studies showing certain nutrients are essential for the well being of the adults or babies and nothing is done by it or little is done by it. This research was done in Japan and as most people know they eat a lot of seaweeds so their iodine during pregnancy and after should be exceptional. However in this study Continue reading “Importance of Iodine in pregnancy and breastfeeding as well as adults and children”
Vegetarian/vegan diet and omnivores diet
Benefit of vegetarian/vegan diet and omnivores diet
Many people ask me what is best vegetarian/vegan diet or omnivores diet? Well physically we have canine teeth to eat meat and our digestions works a bit better with animal meat and fish, however many people do better with vegetarian/vegan diet as they feel better, others do not do as well as the beans and lentils that they need to eat to get adeguate protein will cause them digestive problems. There are also Continue reading “Vegetarian/vegan diet and omnivores diet”
Adult constipation, why is important to eliminate every day and more than once if you eat enough fiber?
In the past 14 years I have heard and seen lots of people that for one reason or another they are constipated and do not know or they think it is ok not to go for few days even weeks at the time.
Sometimes they are told from their GP that it is ok and sometimes they are not they just assume that it is normal as it might be that they had problems since childhood. Well here are some of the reasons why that is a possibility. Nutritional wise and physical as an adult and Continue reading “Adult constipation, why is important to eliminate every day and more than once if you eat enough fiber?”
What treatment experience that my client had with Cranio-Sacral Therapy
I would like to write about Cranio-Sacral Therapy and what it meant for many of my clients. What I have helped with was from babies with colic, nightmares, allergies and coughs to adults who were in pain, or with allergies. The results for many of them were changing their lives in a better and more subtle way. The way they wanted to be and wanted to do in their life. From finding a job to having reduce the physical pain. From having babies crying only when they are meant to cry, to having parents get a good night sleep because of it. Also from babies having a sugar craving and therefore sugar dizziness and dip to a complete change from one day to another just by changing the mother diet while breastfeeding. Each experience and symptoms were all individual and the results are always different according to what they have. Some babies can sleep and be better after one session and some needs at least 2 to more, depending also on the mother treatment. Sometimes the mother needs the treatment more than the baby as she is in more shock than the baby. Sometimes the symptoms get worse before getting better. I found the whole treatments either with just Cranio-Sacral or NAET and Nutrition an amazing tool for changing lives. As an adult you need to be prepared for that change either emotional or physical and quite often I found that when people make the choice of coming for a treatment is because they are ready.
Essential fats for the normal function of the brain in babies and adults
Essential fatty acid – omega 3 and omega 6 – their importance in the body in adults and prior to getting pregnant and breastfeeding
Omega 3 and omega 6 are essential fats that need to be included in the diet as our body does not make them. Saturated fats are found in dairy products, few plants such as the cocoa butter, palm oil and coconut oil, meat and meat products and unsaturated fats are found in seeds, nuts, some plants such as seaweeds and oily fish, chia seeds, linseed oil and hemp oil.. The body will make other oils from the essential oils and only specific oil from each of them. For example from the omega 3 the body will make the EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) (EPA) and the DHA Continue reading “Essential fats for the normal function of the brain in babies and adults”
New products and supplements from the food show
Food show new products that I like
I went to the food show last week and as always there are so many new products and old ones that are so good and some not as much. The following are the ones that this year stood up for me. It is just few, however there are many out there that are good:
• One that I bought was a simple plastic gadget that helps with making milk from vegetarian sources in about 5 minutes, using one of the hand blender that most people will have in the house. With this tool you can make nuts milk, rice milk, oats milk etc. The product comes from Spain and they also have recipes to taste the milk a bit. You can put as little as you want or as much as you want to mix it up. If you or your children are allergic to milk this is an alternative. You need to put at least a pinch of salt for each liter of milk as that would preserve the milk for about 3 to 4 days. The product is called ChufaMix Continue reading “New products and supplements from the food show”
Palmar and plantar reflexes in babies
Palmar and plantar reflexes
The plantar and palmar reflexes are there from 11th week of gestation and the palmar stays till 2 to 3 months after birth and the plantar till 6-7 months after birth. The palmar reflex it is usually quite strong on the baby. If you put a finger in their hands they can hold on tightly and even hold their own body weight. Even though it is not recommended. These reflexes are still retain from our primitive time as the baby is though to hold on the mother fur tightly so they would not fall off. The palmar reflex is also thought to be connected to breast feeding and kneading reaction to get the milk out better. Many babies Continue reading “Palmar and plantar reflexes in babies”
