Beet root the nutritional value:
I saw some beetroot juice in the shop and me being a curious George I wanted to know more about it. What I remember from my childhood, is that my mum used to give me beetroot juice for my then constant cough and it worked for some reason that the old way was passed on from generation to generation without knowing the scientific reason for it. Now in our advanced world we know the benefit of it, and here is what I found out:
Beet belongs to the same family as the chard and spinach. Beet have high amount of sugar and they are delicious eating raw or cooked or pickled. Wild beet came from the North Africa and grew near the seashores. In Europe it was cultivate by the ancient Romans. Beets can be converted into sugar. Beet greens are higher in the nutritional value of the beetroots. They contain more calcium, iron and vitamins A and C. Beetroots are high in folic acid, fibre, manganese and potassium as well as magnesium, phosphorus, iron and vitamin B6. The combination of the nutrients is one of the reasons my cough would go. It would be a syrup of natural nutrients, fighting the cough and supply my body with iron, which it seemed I was always low when I was small.
The health benefit of beetroots, also makes sense as I have a genetic slow phase II pathway, beetroot supports liver detox and it seems to be a very powerful cancer fighting agent. Specifically, the antioxidant betacyanin, which gives the root its colour purple. Also the other great benefit of beetroots is the increased level of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase and glutathione s-transferase, which are two powerful antioxidants the phase II liver detox. Beetroot also seems to increase the white blood cells that detect abnormal cells in the body.
So now I know why my cough would go after my mum would prepare the juice. My liver would have help to detoxifying toxins, and help the immune system to fight the bacteria. Also the other nutrients would support my skinny body in some way. I was a very active child, so whatever I was eating was not enough for me. It is amazing that my mum, even at that time, would give me and my sibling multivitamins to support our good diet.
Craniosacral therapy for the liver and other organs
How would craniosacral therapy help with the liver and any other organs? Well in my experience it helps with supporting the flow and to balance up the liver cells and their function. As the liver does so many function, having an extra hand to clear things smoothly would help the liver get rid of its accumulated or blocked pathways to clear them quickly. Same with any other detox organs such as the liver and the stool pathway. It feels magic when you work on somebody organs and they find that within 5 days they clear things out, not only physically but emotionally as well. As I mentioned somewhere else, the liver accumulates anger, pain, deep sadness and frustration. Quite often those deep emotions can be felt like deep heat covering the entire body going up to the head, face and then go out from the body. When there is a blood stagnation, I usually work on the spleen and if a problem is related to the menstrual cycle, then working on the ovaries and uterus is essential for releasing any blockage there. If the problem is constipation, quite often just working on the sacrum, solar plexus and liver, would get things moving. Of course as a nutritionist I would also recommend nutritional support for all the detox pathways.
This is also valid for babies, as for some the liver and detox organs are quite small so they might need an extra help to detoxifying the hormones or any other intervention that has been given during labour. Again if children have quite a bit of allergies since the beginning that is also a sign from my experience that their liver is not functioning at their optimum level, either genetically or because they need a bit more of fresh and simple foods in their diet for a while (that is if they are children and eat by themselves in breastfeeding babies and toddlers than is the mother that needs to eat the simple and nutritious foods.
